| Trout fishing is fantastic in the Konnarock area. Nearly 50 miles of streams and two lakes feature "put-in-take" fishing and are stocked by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. More experienced anglers will be challenged by another 50 miles of streams where natural reproduction and "catch-and-release" fishing assures a good supply of trophy Rainbow, Brown, and Brook Trout. Located only 300 yards from your kabin, a favorite fishing holes is Laurel Creek which runs down to the town of Damascus! |

| Appalachian Trail- With access to the trail only 1 mile from your kabin, you have the opportunity to explore about 60 miles of the AT that are in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. Iron Mountain Trail / North-This 24 mile trail, passes through dense forest, with a few steep, long ascents or descents. There are three shelters, a number of campsites on this well-maintained hiking trail. Iron Mountain Trail / South- From Damascus the Iron Mountain Trail is about 23 miles long This trail is a footpath which traverses areas within the Cherokee National Forest. Mount Rogers National Recreation Area- More than 400 miles of trail wind their way through the Recreation Area, plus 120,000 acres to explore! The Virginia Creeper Trail- This multiple-use trail which connects Abingdon with Whitetop Station is only 1 1/2 miles from your kabin. The total trail length is 34.3 miles. Walkers, bicyclers and horses are welcome on the trail. |

| Beartree Lake -This 16 acre lake is less than 5 minutes away from your kabin and offers a sandy beach swimming area. Canoe and electric motor-only boating. A trail with several picnic areas surrounds the lake. Washington County Park-A 55 acre recreation area on South Holston Lake, 9 miles from Abingdon . There is a swimming pool, boat ramp, and picnic areas. Small gate fee for daily visitors. Clear Lake Park-Picnicking and boating in and around a several-acre lake behind a high dam. No gate fee. Kayaking and Canoeing-From Damascus it is possible to canoe or kayak all the way to the head waters of South Holston Lake. Beaver Dam Creek becomes Laurel Creek, which merges with the South Fork of the Holston River. |

| Fox Creek Horse Camp- Features include hitching posts and access to horse watering. Portable toilets, but no drinking water or showers. The camp offers access to the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail, Iron Mountain Trail, and trails to Mount Rogers High Country. Hussy Mountain Horse Camp- Located on the east end of the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, features include hitching rails, horse trailer parking, and chemical flush toilets. Open year-around; fee area. Raven Cliff Horse Camp- The camp features hitching rails, chemical flush toilets and horse trailer parking. The camp is open year-around. Virginia Highlands Horse Trail- The Virginia Highlands Horse Trail stretches for over 67 miles. This trail traverses the fragile and beautiful High Country of the National Recreation Area and can sometimes be crowded on weekends and holidays. |

| Deerfield Golf Course- 1 mile NE of Damascus. 9 holes of golfing in a beautiful mountain setting. Carts are available. Weather dependent season: March - November. East Hill Golf Course- Located 5 Miles from downtown Bristol, this nine-hole public golf course has many hills and sand traps to keep the golfer challenged. Holston Valley Golf Course- This 18-hole public golf course in Bristol, is an official member of the USGA and the PGA. The driving range is available for night use. |

| Many hunting opportunities exist in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, including designated wildernesses. Bows, rifles, shotguns, and muzzleloaders are all permitted during the appropriate seasons. Crossbows are not allowed. Whitetail Deer, Turkey, Grouse, Squirrels and several other species are abundant. Hunters must possess the appropriate state and local hunting licenses and stamps as well as a National Forest stamp, and must obey all state and local hunting laws and regulations. Blaze Orange must be worn as dictated by Virginia law. |
